Looking
Back...

Of special interest this past year was the dedication of one room to the history of sail making on City Island, curated by three sailmakers. We also welcomed a fascinating introduction to navigation, which includes the role played by the Hell Gate Pilots from City Island. And Hart Island and other visitors enjoyed our exhibit illustrating all the historic sites that are no longer visible on Hart Island.

DISCOVER OUR STORY

By stepping into the past and uncovering the stories of City Island's maritime legacy ~ from the early days when the island was famous for its oysters to a century of boat building and sail making ~ the museum preserves and celebrates every aspect of our nautical heritage.
